The need for information and communication in communities is as old as the human race - it's just that we now have new ways of addressing these needs. There must been many instances in the life of Ridgeway in the past where this was achieved using paper documents. For example, first published in 1936, was the Ridgeway Council School's Ridge-Ways magazine, edited by the headmaster at the time, Mr Clifford Bennett. Editions of this magazine make interesting reading and provide insights into village life at the time. The magazine included village matters which were not only concerned with the school. For example the December 1938 edition had an article entitled "Ridgeway - Over a Hundred Years Ago". Ridge-Ways also had lighthearted Humour sections at the bottom of some of the pages. For example: "Dad, teacher told us today that Columbus travelled more than two thousand miles on a galleon!" "Oh! Well, don't believe all you hear about those foreign cars, my boy." We are now able to make available the December 1938 edition of the magazine - please see the History area. A good deal is known about Ridgeway history - please see the History and Publications areas.
